Born right on the cusp of Discord’s rise to power, Crumble has lived a rather unsettled life. While Pinkie and Cheese had been thinking about settling down while they raised their family, the reign of the spirit of chaos changed the couple’s plans as Cheese realised that his skills of spreading happiness far and wide were even more needed than ever amongst ponies everywhere chafing under Discord’s rule, and Pinkie chose to accompany him so that their foal didn’t have to grow up with a daddy who was always away. For all her good motivations, however, Crumble soon came to wish that his mother had decided otherwise.
For one thing, a travelling from one town to another meant he never made any close friends; no sooner had he got close to someone than he would be whisked off to the next town in need of his parents’ skills. Crumble’s loneliness was alleviated some once his younger sister Cheesy (three years his junior) grew old enough to provide company, but she took after their parents so much that it made Crumble just feel even more misplaced.
The problem was that Crumble didn't really fit the family traditions. Generally overwhelmed by his parents' wacky ways, he would usually just sit back and keep to himself while they were busy hosting parties; of course, leading him to feel rather excluded any time the family was all together. What Crumble really wanted was to make his mark on Equestria in a more serious way than his parents, but his attempts at seriousness often meant he simply ended up as the butt of his parents' antics. Not intentionally, of course - both Pinkie and Cheese love their son and never mean to humiliate him - but it still became a frequent occurrence that just made him feel even more out of place.
Like Cheese as a youngster, he wears glasses. His fur is a light pink like Pinkie's, while his eyes are green and mane is brown like Cheese's. His mane would be as poofy as both his parents' (and as his tail), but he quickly became embarrassed by the style and trimmed it short - though it still curls and poofs in a way he doesn't much care for.
Finally, the call went out that Twilight’s rebellion against Discord was in trouble, and Pinkie immediately steered her family back to Ponyville to help her old friend; much to Crumble’s relief as, upon arrival, he was greeted by the foals of some of his mother’s friends who were only too willing to accept him into their number. For the first time, Crumble actually felt he had someone his own age who he could bond with.
Before he had time to begin said bonding, however, Crumble found himself being sucked out of his world and deposited in a completely new one. Where Discord was good, his mother was evil and his father was nowhere to be found. Thoroughly confused, Crumble nonetheless managed to hook up with a small group of other foals who seemed to be in a similar situation to his own.
